New Model - Snežnik Castle

Dear friends,

A new model has been added to our collection of castle replicas. This time, it is a replica of the tiny Slovenian castle Snežnik.

This castle was built before 1269 and belonged to Meinhard von Schneberg (Snežniški in Slovene). The German princes Schoenburg-Waldenburg purchased the castle in 1853. They erected a beautiful arched bridge over an artificial lake, leading to its gate, rebuilt the castle and decorated its interiors, which have stayed intact by the present time. After WW II the castle became a hunting lodge for the country's communist leaders. Now the castle is part of Narodni Musej Slovenije and hosts an exposition depicting private life of nobility in the second half of the 19th century.

New arrivals - metal replica of the Bled castle 

We are proud to announce the arrival of a new member to our pewter Archiminima Replica collection, the beautiful Bled castle – the oldest, most famous and most visited Slovenian castle – in the whole Archiminima series of metal 1:2000 scale architectural landmark replicas. The model is made of lead free pewter and toned in the shade of old silver. Overlooking the picturesque Alpine lake Bled, the castle was built on the top of a mighty precipice and was granted to the Bishops of Brixen by Emperor Henry II in 1011. The castle was rebuilt and enlarged by the 17th century, becoming a powerful fortress with two courtyards, high walls with towers and a drawbridge over a moat. A history exposition in the castle is now part of Narodni Musej Slovenije.
