Lichtenstein 1:2000
This is our new model of another Gothic Revival fantasy castle. The original Lichtenstein castle, perched on the edge of a cliff in southern Germany, comes right from a fairy tale. Its owner, Count Wilhelm of Wüttemberg, Duke of Urach, was inspired by the Wilhelm Hauff's romantic novel Lichtenstein and hired a German architect Karl Alexander von Heideloff, the master builder of Nuremberg, to build a medieval castle for himself. The construction was completed in 1840–42, based on the historical foundation of a ruined medieval knight's castle. The ducal family of Urach still own the castle and take good care of it with the help of numerous tourists, attracted by the charm and beauty of this historical building.
